Plant dyed yarn with wool from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The yarn is dyed in our Viking Village over open fire by our own TextileWitch. The color comes from the plants Woad & Stinging Nettle.
The yarn is 100% wool from the Old Norwegian Short-tailed Land Race, or Gammel Norsk Spælsau in Norwegian. The wool has dark and light fibres, which gives the wool depth and an interesting look.
The wool is perfect for sweaters, mittens and hats. But you can also use it to make cozy blankets or pillows for your home. The wool is also very good to felt.
Washing instructions: Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk recommends handwashing the knitted fabrics with a mild wool soap, then sentrifuge it in the washing machine, before laying the fabrics flat for drying. That way the fabric keeps it shape.
